Pinning; The Latest Social Addiction

Pinterest Cork
When Pinterest began, I really did not understand it. According to Wikipedia,

“Pinterest is a pinboard-style photo-sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, and hobbies. Users can browse other pinboards for images, “re-pin” images to their own pinboards, or “like” photos. …”

Pinterest is growing faster than Facebook. I occasionally opened a pin that was twittered and found some beautiful photography. I started exploring Pinterest and discovered countless categories of interests with numerous photographs, quotes, and memes included within each topic. I decided to start my own Pinterest boards about my passions. I love books and most anything pertaining to books so my boards include Book Related, Books I Authored, Cool Bookstores, Libraries, Home Libraries to Die For, Reading Nooks, Unusual Bookshelves, and For Readers (click on the photos at the end of the post to visit each board).

Joining Pinterest is easy and free. Once you join you can upload photos from other boards, your files, photos on the internet, or graphics you developed onto the boards you create. Be sure to read and observe Pinterest’s copyright requirements. You will be notified when someone repins one of your pins. You can also favorite, like, and/or follow boards you enjoy. You will NOT be inundated with eMails from the boards you choose to follow. To see  new pins  you simply log onto your account and the newbies appear on your first page. Scroll  through the pictures and choose any you want to pin onto your boards. It’s fun and easy.

Addiction AlertYou have been given fair warning. Pinterest is very addicting. I could not only spend hours looking for new photos to pin, but I also enjoy reviewing the pins on my own boards. Be disciplined and limit your time online so you still have time to read. Be sure to check out and follow my boards below.

Do you have any of your own Pinterest boards? What are your favorite boards to follow? Please share any tips for controlling the addiction to pinning.

Thank you and Happy Reading!
